Andrea ROCCA, Elvis
Andrea Rocca is an Italian artist and designer, born and raised in Milan, the city in which he began his professional and artistic journey. After obtaining a diploma as an advertising graphic designer at the IED Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, he oriented his studies towards an advertising career, working freelance as an illustrator, designer and advertiser. The different and numerous personal and professional experiences in Italy and abroad have contributed to the construction and evolution of a new eclectic and creative artistic identity. Towards the end of the 1990s the previous experiences consolidated into a mature style, confirming the choice of painting as a privileged means of expression.
Wood, canvas and everyday objects are the preferred supports for portraits, historical brands and still life, works that Andrea creates in mixed media with an extremely personal pop taste, ranging from figurative painting to installations, from American graphics to the abstract. The subjects of his works consolidate the artist's connection to the world of entertainment, fashion, advertising, comics, cinema and music. Time-honored emblems of the star system are reinterpreted through an original and powerful use of color. The incisiveness of the features and the boldness of the chromatic choice makes the strength of the warm shades the true protagonist of the image.
